Package XII, Optional Internship Opportunity
A 10-week internship opportunity is
available with SmartMed, LP. upon completion
of Chapters 1-24. SmartMed, LP will ask to
review all test materials, including
practice voice file corrections, chapter
tests and a review of the completed Language
of Medicine textbook before offering an
internship invitation. Preliminary
transcription testing is required prior to
internship acceptance. A minimum score of
85% is required on the transcription test.
Description of Internship Opportunity
Participants will be assigned a current
hospital account and provided daily patient
voice files to transcribe. Upon completion
of the voice files, SmartMed, LP quality
assurance staff will review each voice file
comparing text to dictated voice. They will
mark corrections in the file, and provide
additional critique to aid the participant
in fine-tuning their transcription skills
and return the report to
the participate who will make
corrections and forward the report on to the
hospital account.
The purpose of the internship program is to
provide an opportunity for you to build an
experience record. Internship is considered
non-paid transcription status, although
there is no charge to the participant for
trainer’s critique and review.
The majority of those completing the
eSmartMed curriculum and internship accept
transcription positions with SmartMed, LP.

1982, SmartMed, LP., has provided medical
transcription services for hospitals,
clinics and physicians across the United

tests and definition assignments must be
completed and provided SmartMed, LP for
confirmation of completion. An entry-level
transcription test must also be completed
with a minimum score rating of 85% accuracy.
